Melinda Long
C4K Convening: Child Care and Business Partnerships
Melinda Long is director of the Columbus Community Hospital
Child Care Center. She graduated from Columbus High School in
2001, then went on to get her Bachelor of Science in early
childhood at Wayne State College. After college she worked at
Early Head Start as a teacher and then became a supervisor.
After having her first child, she decided to start a child care
of her own, operating a Family Home I & II child care for 10
years before becoming director of the hospital child care
center. Long is excited to share with everyone the exciting
world of child care and the challenges that come along with it.
She and her husband, Curtis, have three children, Kyrstyn, 14,
Jacey, 12, and Blake, 10.
