What It Means to Be an Advocate

Katie Walmsley serves as the deputy director for the Valley County Economic Development, Ord Area Chamber, and Valley County Tourism. She is also coordinator for Loup Valley Childhood Initiative, Valley County’s Communities for Kids initiative, where she is successfully establishing a local, grassroots collaboration among families, businesses, and child care providers. Walmsley graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before moving back to Ord. She combines data with community stories to create a compelling case for early childhood issues in Valley County. As a natural and driven advocate, Walmsley is also a proud alumnus of First Five Nebraska’s Policy Leadership Academy.
