Michael T. Hansen
Community-Centered Solutions to Increase Child Care Availability
Michael T. Hansen is the president and CEO of Columbus Community
Hospital (CCH) in Columbus, Nebraska, a community-owned,
not-for-profit hospital that has more than 900 employees.
Under Hansen’s tenure as president and CEO, the hospital has
added several new services to address needs within Columbus and
the surrounding area. For example, after an employee satisfaction
survey showed a lack of child care was a concern, the hospital
built the CCH Child Care Center. The 14,000-square-foot, state-
licensed child care center can serve more than 100 children and
is open to CCH employees and community members. Hansen, a
graduate of Louisiana State University, has two master’s degrees
in health services management and human resources development,
both from Webster University in San Antonio. Prior to joining
CCH, Hansen was CEO at Pender Community Hospital in Pender,
Nebraska, and worked in health care positions in Iowa,
Louisiana, California, and Texas. He is a member of several
health care associations and regularly volunteers within the
Columbus community.
