John Levy
Understanding Fundraising Basics
John Levy is the president of the William and Ruth Scott Family
Foundation. In this role, he assists the Scott family with its
philanthropic investments throughout Nebraska including its work
to support early childhood efforts statewide. He is also an
active community member, serving as a trustee, board director,
or advisory board member for more than 10 organizations as well
as coaching a refugee girls soccer team and mentoring four
at-risk youth. Most recently, he was appointed by Gov. Pete
Ricketts as a trustee of the Sixpence Early Learning Fund. Levy
earned his bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Latin American
studies from the University of Kansas, his master’s degree in
history from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and his juris
doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law. He
also previously worked for two regional law firms and ran a
large social services agency in north Omaha. In his free time,
Levy is an avid runner and traveler and enjoys spending time
with his wife, Bethany, and three young sons Oliver, Henry, and
Thomas.
