Trish Cozart

Trish Cozart is the Group Manager for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC), an externally focused center at the lab whose mission is to build a cleantech ecosystem to empower market solutions that transform communities around the world. Within the center, Cozart also manages the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), a $50 million-dollar program dedicated to speeding early-stage cleantech companies to market. Prior to joining the IEC team, Cozart spent nine years at NREL leading projects for an application development and analysis team, primarily supporting the Department of Energy’s deployment efforts for alternative fuels and advanced vehicles. During this time, she also led projects in other areas of the lab including wind, geothermal, solar, buildings, and tech-to-market. Cozart also lent her expertise to coach federal government and national laboratory groups on impact metrics, customer discovery, and user experience. Prior to joining NREL in 2009, Cozart co-founded a digital publishing company specializing in audio production and new media for World Heritage Sites. Her basement in Wheat Ridge, Colorado has served as the birthplace for two startup companies over the last 15 years. Cozart’s career began with more than a decade managing and designing industry-changing patient education software and content for McKesson Corporation. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Colorado State University, a Master of Science in Technical Communications from the University of Colorado at Denver and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in User Experience Design and Development from Rochester Institute of Technology.
